Most of the stories presented here have some aspect of Cornwall as their theme, such as the land, its people, history, language or culture. However, inspiration results at times in the creation of stories on other subjects. All of the stories here were written and translated by C Penglase.

The Cornish version of the story comes first, then the English translation and then the Cornish to English vocabulary.

The stories written in the language of the time of Tregear are prefixed by the capital letter A. Those written in the dialect of Penwith/Kerrier are prefixed by a capital letter B. Those without a capital letter before them are written in English only.

The vocabulary of the stories is taken from the Cornish sources. Regarding those written in the Cornish of the time of Tregear, some words are taken from Cornish writings other than Tregear as one would expect because the Cornish vocabulary in Tregear forms only a small part of the vocabulary which remains. The words from other places are spelled according to the way in which Cornish is written in the Homilies. Tregear himself used many English words because English was the language of the Church in the sixteenth century. The greater part of those should be avoided. Similarly, the vocabulary found in the stories written in dialect is taken from various Cornish sources and written in the spelling of the dialect in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
